HAESL’s materiality topics are defined on their significances on HAESL’s economic, social and environmental impacts and influences on the decision making of HAESL’s stakeholders. Responses given by our stakeholders were consolidated and developed into a materiality matrix. United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) relevant to our business were prioritised to guide us in developing long-term performance standards and targets.

  • Celebrating 25 Years of Growth and Talent Development HAESL's growth over the past 25 years has resulted in job creation and talent development opportunities.
  • Maintaining Success Amidst COVID-19 Challenges Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, HAESL had a successful year in 2022, with the company's health and safety priorities remaining the top priority.
  • Prioritising Health and Safety in the Workplace HAESL is progressing well with its diversity and inclusion goals, with focus groups conducted to identify areas for improvement and unconscious bias training conducted across the company.
  • Advancing Diversity and Inclusion Goals HAESL’s electricity consumption reduced by 1% with technology advancement, and the solar power system increased threefold despite greenhouse gas emissions increased by 4.3% year on year due to the increased number of engines tested and the greater mix of XWB engines.
  • Managing Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Increasing Renewable Energy Use HAESL’s water intensity reduced by 26%, and recycling rates increased by 17% with 13 tonnes of aluminum oxide recycled to manufacture bricks.
  • Engaging in Corporate Social Responsibility and Volunteering HAESL recorded 151 volunteering hours from 16 corporate social responsibility events, and material donations were made to various charitable causes. HAESL Community Day took place in January 2023 with over 800 staff participating in 20 volunteering events will be covered fully in next year report.
  • Improving Recycling and Reducing Single-Use Plastic HAESL has taken steps to reduce single-use plastic and encourage recycling by installing reverse vending machine to recycle bottles and cans and initiating uniform recycling programme, so as expand EV charging facilities.
